In Sync With The Moonlight

I thought I’d share some reflective thoughts that came to me recently when I was desperate enough to listen. Not that I think I’m Anaïs Nin or anything. I’m just me. Leah. Simple and somewhat vulnerable—but feisty enough stand my ground.

Anyway, I was taking a mid-night dip, reclaiming the moon and the stars— wondering how it was that the moment things seem to be going smoothly life sticks its bony leg into the isle and trips things up. In my state of cool quietude this is what I heard…

“Living in a vulnerable place with broken ground is a tricky thing, for therein lies the potential for a gravesite or a garden. The choice is yours.

When the earth is soft planting is easy. The seed nestles into the moist soil, and the two become one. The weeping sky cleanses the dirt while the brazen sun strengthens it. All the while a silent pome is growing, thanks to the nurturing elements and a soul laid bare.

Do not broadcast your seed out of season. Forcing things only yields frustration. Your seeds are your offerings to the world—your heart in a pod, sent to bear timely fruit. Relax.

Take care of yourself, for if the plant is sickly the seeds become diseased also, spreading gloom instead of light. Find refreshment from your solitary work and for added strength embrace the souls sent to love you.

You have within yourself all that is needed to live this life abundantly. Your pains and setbacks are in sync with your destiny, accept them in faith and continue onward. If you have to practice this exercise a hundred times a day, do it, for herein lies the path to peace and contentment.

Oh, and if this doesn’t work, try a jumpstart of Sangria for your spirits, a bit of moonlight for your mood, and a willing mate to awaken your senses.”

Okay, so the last line was inspired by an episode of Sex And The City; one must gather inspiration where one finds it;)

Very profound.

The problem with living one's "best" life is that the seed travels in the air like a dandilion seed, it flies along the breeze bumping into things, sometimes landing in the branches and thickets until it is loosened by a gale and falls into the earth to grow.

Right now I am in a very good place but there have been long periods in the past that slowed my arrival here. I feel like a got a really late start at a good life.

Cheryl, I love that little seed bumping into things, we have no control where it lands do we.

I understand about the late start. But here you are, so amazing and ready, reaching for those things you thought were impossible. Learning to see with clear eyes...so many fine details you've never noticed before. How amazing! I'm with you sister. I get it.

So glad you you're here.

This is so the inspiration I needed right now. How did you know? BTW, I'm anxiously awaiting your book I ordered from Amazon.com the other day. I can't wait to read it!

Marie, I love how when we speak from an honest (but vulnerable) place, sharing the struggles that we're tempted to hide, other people benefit from it. This will never cease to amaze me.

Thank you for ordering the book. I think you're going to like it;)

Leah, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you are Anaïs Nin. I love that you chose to use the word "pome" as the fruit borne from earth and sky. The word play caused me to pause for this... silent pome. Like the poem in one's heart.

Thank you for this reflection, it's beautiful!

I think I need to take midnight dips--even if I am a little afraid of my reflection. ;)

"Do not broadcast your seed out of season. Forcing things only yields frustration." Such a simple truth - beautiful post! PS I kinda wish I was Anais Nin ;)

"Forcing things only yields frustration . . ." I can't tell you how long it's taken me to learn that one! As I've grown more and more in the Lord, I've realized that everything happens in God's time and at the right time. Nothing productive or lasting comes to us when we take control and fly headlong into something we are not ready for, or it's not ready for us.
Beautiful reflection here as always, Leah!
Love and blessings!

Wonderful words and thoughts that I really needed to hear today, Leah, especially the "forcing things only yields frustration." I feel like I am trying to cram so many things into my day, I can never feel satisfied that I achieved anything. I keep thinking eventually the pace will slow down, but what I really should be doing is working on slowing it down now, a little each day.

Thanks.

Great words to reflect on. We humans tend to make life so much more complicated than it needs to be.

My dear Leah,
Very profound post. Loved the video of the flower unfurling...opening her heart to let love and life in. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely seeds of contemplation dear Leah.
Such depth and wisdom here that I find myself reading certain passages two or three times over. Like this one. “Do not broadcast your seed out of season.” This applies to all things, sort of like describing your baby before it’s born, telling what gifts she has, all the physical and intellectual features…and never having held her in your arms.

“Living in a vulnerable place with broken ground is a tricky thing, for therein lies the potential for a gravesite or a garden.” This is worth meditating upon. As you’re heard, life can make you bitter or better – which will it be? Choose better!

Dear Leah,

Especially LOVE this: “Living in a vulnerable place with broken ground is a tricky thing, for therein lies the potential for a gravesite or a garden." Indeed!

Holding you in the garden of my heart! XOXO

"Embrace the souls sent to love you"... I love the fact that every reader could get a line that struck them and make the reflections more profound and richer. I bookmarked this ~ I know I'll be coming back to it again and again.

Soul speaks to soul :)

Great reflections and honestly I like the last part best, "a willing mate to awaken you senses." That is a perfect line for this old married lady...( and I am referring to my husband.) Sometimes we forget we share all that is us with the one we live with..the good and bad.

Leah Griffith said...

Jayne, your comments always make me smile. Sometimes I am afraid of my reflection...in many ways. Thank you for bringing me joy and making me think twice.

Leah Griffith said...

eRmOdi, I intend to read some of her work. I've read quotes here and there but have never sat down with her for any long moments of time. Thank you for you comment;)

Me too Martha. Sometimes I rush ahead trying to force things and then I complain when things aren't working out. "I did all that work for nothing!" But when I wait for the unction...that inward push, the works flows out of me like water and the current of life carries it in the right direction.
I don't think we ever learn this lesson completely. I relearn it on a regular basis.
XOXO

Karen, I understand what you mean. It's very difficult for me to be totally relaxed because there is always that voice telling me what I could or should be doing. I think it's a habit born of perfectionism. It's like a bully sometimes. I don't think we ever completely silence that voice but as long as we recognize it for what it is we can learn will to ignore it. Anyway, I'm glad you found some inspiration here with me today;)

Leah Griffith said...

Stephen you are so right!

Leah Griffith said...

Rimly, sometimes I think we need to try that one first. It sounds like the most fun;)

Leah Griffith said...

Debra, it amazes me how we each have within ourselves a gushing fountain of love and wisdom, and how when we quiet our thoughts and surrender all our fears we find that place of refreshment and grace waiting for us to explore. Why we fight this journey to the fountain is beyond me. Silly humans;)

Linda, some days I'm digging graves and others I'm planting daisies. Today is a daisy day and even more so by finding your sweet comment waiting for me. <3

Leah Griffith said...

Melissa, I've always communicated with you in "soul speak". That's the language we use together and I love it.

Leah Griffith said...

Janu, thank you sweet lady. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Corinne, sometimes I think we underestimate the impact our words have on one another. We speak things from a place of tenderness or vulnerability, not realizing that we teach as we learn. What a gift that nothing is ever really wasted. I'm glad you found inspiration here. You've inspired me so many times.
XOXO

Jan, it's true. Sometimes we forget what a treasure it is to have a life-mate, one to share so many things with. And the moonlit playground;)

Leah Griffith said...

Andy, thank you for your sweet comment. I'm so glad that you visit. I was tempted to join in on your poetry blog. It looked like such fun, but I'm really bad at figuring out how to navigate those types of things. Anyway, I love what you do. It's magic <3

Oh, Leah. You are just pure beauty. I so feel fed, opened, and caressed by your words. And in a very tender, achey, beautiful kind of way, that feels like that little moonflower blooming. A gravesite or graden. You words make me fall into a place where both I love both. Thank you, my friend.

Oh. Holy Shit.

You have reached out and taken hold of my heart, Leah. I feel all achy and wide open inside. I'm blown away beyond words by the beauty here, by the beauty in YOU.

I could quote every word here but this (below) just melted me...

"Your pains and setbacks are in sync with your destiny, accept them in faith and continue onward."

And this:

"Find refreshment from your solitary work and for added strength embrace the souls sent to love you."

I have been sent to love you, Leah. And you me. And oh, how I embrace this--how lucky I feel that we have been sent to one another.

Full of love for you & so grateful.
