Sticky Intimacy

The morning yawns awake
its amber brilliance revives me.
String me up with the sun
I want to peek at the world through the oaks.
I’m weary of this limited view
ground zero with the lilacs.

The sky is the audience
of the dark bumblebee’s dance
navigating virgin blossoms
yet missing out on the bruising intimacy
of bee’s sticky feet
and the swooning perfume of pollination.

From afar it only seems romantic.

Beautiful, Leah, absolutely beautiful.

And the pictures are perfect to go with your words.

You are such a talent!

Leah, you have some poem here. A rare jewel.
Couldn’t help but notice how you separated that last line. Powerful stuff.

In the absence of inspiration, do you still sit down to write anyway?
Or do you procrastinate and wait for motivation?

I don't even like poetry, but I loved this. I think I would love anything you wrote.

Ohhh, you take me there. I can smell the damp morning air, feel the bloom of humidity painting across the sky. Waking up with the world isn't something I do as often as I should. This took me into that moment, though, and reminded me why I have such love for you and your writerly soul. <3

That was lovely and thought-provocative. Well done, Leah!

Oh, Leah, a poem! Is it not? Is it not romantic? Or is it drunken-love, gulping down the sweet nectar! Either way, I'm swooning. ;)

Beautiful!

Debra, sometimes I jit and jot around with words and it comes out lovely like this poem and other times—er...not so good. LOL!! Thanks;)

So beautiful Leah. I often have bumble-bee envy. They get to fly high, eat for free and bear witness to lovely perfume and beauty. This was written with flair and love. Thank you! Great pics as well. :-)

Martha, you are such a blessing!

Tameka, I know nothing about poetry. I've never studied it and I'm not even sure what constitutes a poem. I just write. That's all.
It's a bit intimidating having you, a bona fide poet, read it;)

I have bird envy...imagine being able to fly away!
Love!

Irene, early in the morning is when I write my best. There seems to be an aura of inspiration in the morning light.
